How to manually reset and rebuild the sync services database with BusySync

If BusySync has stopped syncing with iCal and/or Sync Services and resetting sync history did not solve the problem, you may have to manually reset and rebuild your sync services database, as follows.

  1. Reset BusySync: Open the BusySync pref pane, click the Reset tab and click the Reset BusySync button. This will unpublish and unsubscribe all BusySync calendars, and delete your BusySync database. Then, delete the following file, if it exists:

    /Users/username/Library/Application Support/BusySync/BusySync.bsql

  2. Delete any orphaned calendars that were left behind after step 1. An orphaned calendar is a calendar you were subscribed to from another BusySync user on your LAN or from Google Calendar that is still showing up in iCal. Or a calendar that you were publishing from iCal to Google that is still showing up on Google. In other words, each calendar should only exist on the publisher, and not on the subscriber. If any orphaned calendars exist on the subscriber, you should manually delete them in iCal and/or Google.
  3. In iCal, select File > Back up iCal and save the file.
  4. Quit all running applications, then delete the following folders, if they exist:

    /Users/username/Library/Application Support/iCal
    /Users/username/Library/Application Support/iSync
    /Users/username/Library/Application Support/SyncServices
    /Users/username/Library/Calendars

  5. Restart your computer.
  6. Launch iCal. It will be blank. Then double-click the Backup file you created in step 3 to restore iCal. It will take a few minutes for iCal and Sync Services to get in sync so let your computer run for a few minutes before moving on to the next step.
  7. Start BusySync and reconfigure your Publish and Subscribe options.
