Google Hangouts video call links appear in notes field

This article applies to legacy Google Hangouts event metadata.

Some older Google Calendar events that were created with Hangouts may include a server-generated block appended to the notes field:

     -::~:~::~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~::~:
Please do not edit this section of the description.

This event has a Google Hangouts video call.
Join: https://plus.google.com/hangouts/_/calendar/abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz?hs=121
-::~:~::~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~::~:~::-

You cannot remove this text from the notes field if the event still contains a legacy Hangouts link. For current events, Google Meet settings are controlled in Google Calendar on the web.

To control auto-added Google Meet links for new events, adjust your conference settings directly in Google Calendar on the web. If you are a Google Workspace user, your administrator can also enforce meeting link policies at the workspace level.
