How can I change the event text color?
BusyCal defaults to displaying event titles using the calendar or tag color. There are several ways to control and customize event text colors:
Changing Individual Event Colors
To change the color of specific events, you can use Tags or the Color property:
Using Colored Tags
- Add a colored tag to any event to override its calendar color
- Go to Edit > Edit Tags to create and assign colors to tags
- Apply tags via the Tags field in the Info Panel or by right-clicking an event
Using the Color Property
- In the Info Panel, use the Color dropdown to quickly assign colors
- This automatically creates a colored tag for the event
- You can also enter custom hex color codes (e.g.,
#FF0000for red)
Event Text Color Display Settings
Go to Settings > Appearance to configure how event text is displayed:
- Calendar/Tag Color - Display event text using either the calendar color or tag color if applied (default)
- Calendar Color - Display event text only in the calendar color (ignores tag colors)
- Black - Display all event names in black text with colored bullets
When using colored text, BusyCal darkens the colors slightly by default to improve readability. To use the full vivid colors instead, uncheck:
- BusyCal > Settings > Appearance > Darken text to increase readability
Show Rich Text Option
If your events aren't showing colored text, bold, italics, or other formatting, check that rich text is enabled:
Go to View > Show Rich Text and ensure this option is checked. When unchecked, all event text will appear in plain black text regardless of your color settings.
