How do I remove a file attachment from an event or task?
An attached file in the Info Panel has no trash icon or remove button next to it, so it can look like the attachment is permanent. It isn't — the attached row is a pop-up menu, and choosing None from it removes the file. You don't need to delete the event or task and create it again.
Remove an attachment
- Select the event or task and open the Info Panel.
- Find the attached row. The file name appears underneath it as a link.
- Click the pop-up menu next to attached (it shows File…).
- Choose None.
The attachment is removed from the event or task and the change syncs like any other edit.
tip
If you remove the wrong file, choose Edit > Undo (⌘-Z) right away to put it back.
Removing more than one attachment
An event or task can hold several attachments. Each one gets its own attached row with its own pop-up menu, and the file name below the row tells you which file that menu controls. Choose None on the row for the file you want to remove, and repeat for any others.
Notes
- Choosing None detaches the file from the event or task. The original file on your Mac is left alone.
- To attach a file instead, choose File… from the same menu, or drag the file onto the event in the calendar.
- If the pop-up menu is greyed out, the event is read-only or the account it lives on doesn't support attachments. Google Calendar, for example, does not.
- If the attached row doesn't appear at all on an event without attachments, turn on Attachments in BusyCal > Settings > Info Panel. See Info Panel Fields Missing.
