BusyContacts is not showing iMessage / Messages activity

BusyContacts can send an iMessage for a contact, but it does not currently show your Messages.app conversation history in the Activity List.

This is expected on modern macOS: Apple does not provide a supported way for third‑party apps to read Messages transcripts reliably (and without special entitlements).

What you can do

  • To message a contact, use the Action menu or click an email/phone field in the Info Panel and choose Messages/iMessage (depending on the field).
  • If your goal is to keep a communication history inside BusyContacts, enable Mail activity instead:

Why it changed

Older macOS versions exposed more metadata via Spotlight in ways that third‑party apps could sometimes use. As macOS privacy tightened over time, this became unreliable and is no longer supported in BusyContacts.
