BusyContacts is no longer showing Apple Mail activity after an update

If Apple Mail messages stop appearing after an update, check the Mail Assistant settings and try opening a message for the selected contact. Missing activity can have several causes; it does not necessarily mean an old plug-in is involved.

Check Mail Assistant

  1. In BusyContacts > Settings > Integrations > Mail, enable Capture emails viewed or sent in Apple Mail.
  2. In Mail > Settings > Extensions, enable BusyContacts Mail Assistant.
  3. Confirm that the contact's card in BusyContacts includes the email address used in the message.
  4. Show the Activity List and enable the relevant Mail categories in its Activity menu.
  5. Open a message from or to that contact in Apple Mail, then return to BusyContacts.

If the extension does not appear after installing or updating BusyContacts, quit and reopen Apple Mail. If activity still does not appear, quit and reopen both apps, then try the same message again.

Mail Assistant cannot automatically import your entire mailbox. Older messages need to be opened in Apple Mail, and incoming-message capture depends on what Mail makes available to the extension. Captured activity is stored on this Mac and does not sync between Macs. See Adding Mail for details.

If you disabled Mail Assistant to use Apple Mail's built-in S/MIME signing or encryption, new activity will not be captured while it is disabled. See Mail Assistant and S/MIME.

If you are looking for Manage Plug-ins

Manage Plug-ins… belonged to the legacy Apple Mail plug-in. Current BusyContacts releases use Extensions instead. Follow Mail Assistant setup; the old plug-in and its repair steps are no longer supported.

If the checks above do not help, contact support with your BusyContacts and macOS versions, whether the extension is enabled, and whether opening a matching message in Apple Mail adds it to the Activity List.
